Re: Nexus-remove
Heh, This is the second draft of this letter. =)
I have to say I agree completely with Steve. We'd
all never agree on someone else as campaign coordinator.
Why? Who knows all the details of Jaern? Who knows
the history of the campaign way back into the 70's/
Early 80's? Who knows how magic really works & what
powers it? Who knows what the motives/abilities/
goals of the gods are? Who knows what is really on
the moons and other planets? Who knows how the rhymans
really work? Answer? No one. I know some of it,
but mainly just hints of it. Steve probably knows
a little more than I, and Lyle as well. However I don't
think any of the 3 of us would be willing to do it,
and who'd want us as campaign coordinators anyways?
Campaign coordinator is just a monumentally difficult
job. First you have to put up with a lot of intellegent
and creative people picking at you constantly. That'd
drive about anyone insane. Second you have to put up
with hundreds of ill thought out and ill prepared
ideas. Third you have to figure out how all these wierd
ass notitions that folks want to put into play and
put into play without authorization fit into the pattern.
Fourth you have to be impartial.
This is an EXTREMELY difficult role and replacing the
person we got now means we would loose the cohesiveness
of the campaign. Dan has been the fixture for AQ for, if
not two decades, close to it. Others come and go, but
Dan Stays and keeps the campaign running. He might not
show up as much as he use too, but he is still the
campaign coordinator, and you still do go to him for big
decisions/rulings.
I think the main gripe about Dan centers around that he
isn't there enough in some people's eyes. Look at why
that is. Would you want to show up week after week
just to have people gripe and pick at you? I think not.
Cut him some slack, because I can promise you the next
guy you get will not have the stomach to put up with it.
I know speaking for myself, I have submitted and done some
of the most lame brained, half cocked crap. Stuff that if
I'd have done it would have had some MASSIVE consequences
for the campaign that I just didn't see. Dan did, shot
me down and things go on.
I've had my share of plots hozed by Dan, I've been cheesed
at Dan and disagreed with him numerous times. However he's
still the best person for the job.
Anyways, enough of the spew about Dan. There is one other
thing that is barring you from 'electing' a new campaign
coordinator. That is the constitution. By the Club
Constitution it is not an elected office. To elect a new
campaign coordinator you have to rewrite the constitution,
get it passed by a large majority, submit it to purdue.
Changing the club constitution is just a bad idea too, and
it is something that takes months to do. So if you are
serious about it, realize what you are undertaking, but I
urge you to rethink it.
