Re: Mods (open discussion)
This pretty much sums it up...
Let's see if a warrior with a CM of 20 goes toe to toe with said critter
with 35 DV (what is this a gargoyle?), he will have a 75% of missing. No, I
don't see that multi-attacking will be efficient here. A conservative
player would have to go for the precise attack. With split dice, even doing
two attack could be considered gutsy.
With the critter creation system, a high DV will be in the mid to high
twenties without (in my definition) torquing the rules (ie an armor of
scales at rate 5). The above warrior would be able to make mince meat of
these critters.
It takes 42000 exp to get a CM of 20 or 17 adventures. Additonally, it
takes 48960 exp to get a great sword skill of 16. Add in roughly 20500 exp
for 40 DP. You have a quisinart at rate 44 if the player goes for pure
warrior abilities.
But comparitivly speaking, mages can get their most devastating spells at
earlier rates. For instance it takes only 10800 exp to get fire ball. In
other words, a rate 10 fire mage can have fire ball, 20 DP, with 22 spell
units (assuming INT of 12). At rate 11 or 12, he will be able to cast that
spell three times.
My point is that I am undecided if this is necessary if it is even
desireable. The one thing I do know for certain, I am totally against
having defense values as a limiting factor for modifiers.
Thanks,
Mike
