That sounds pretty good. Any impale you risk losing your weapon or
becoming unhorsed yourself. Or, in the case of lances, breaking your
weapon (lots of lance breaking historically). Maybe a skill check to
keep your weapon? That seems fair since an impale does greater damage.

Definately a horsemanship check if your mounted. Perhaps an AGI check
for hawksoar? (to avoid redirecting into the dirt).
