But that is totally contradictory to the last mutate errata. Also
how can giving someone a 'new arm' or 'webbed feet' or a 'useless wing'
not be considered something other than ability they don't have?
It lets them use a limb they never had before, another weapon, another
shield or buckler.  Dork with the bone structure: flanged bones, spiked
knuckles let you do more grapple damage;  reinforce the skeletal structure
to make you more resistant to bone breaking crits, etc...  Wings make
great weapons for smaking people around with, and while they can't
help you fly, they could certainly aid in swimming if they weren't feathered.

You absolutely do get benefit from these things that are above and
beyond the norm, but that is moot considering that last errata, unless
that errata is now no longer applicable.
