Uh, I would hope not, Wright.  The skill only modifies your ability to
use the item defensively and has nothing to do with materials used.
Hence, 'n' for shields, regardless of material, is 3.  So, if I make my
Defence Skill roll with 2 dice using a Steel Shield, the shield will be
effectively giving me a +10 to my CDV (i.e., 4 + (2 * 3)).  Get it?
