Wholeheartedly agreed here as well.

I'm not sure i like splitting. There was a reason for removing
the separate types of attacks before (6 yrs ago it was
"multi-attack", "quickdraw", and a couple others like that)...
to now it's "longsword" with several options under the skill.
I think keeping the defense within the weapon skill is
a good idea.

I'd say ignore material makeup when determining the DV bonus
from the skill in terms of defensability of the weapon.
I.E...get a DV bonus of only 1, 2, or 3 per die...no "6" for
adamant shield per die.
If someone wants to buy their shield skill way up to get
the 30 DV..let 'em. That means only one attack from the
longsword in their right hand.

Priests already buy spells at the same rate as a mage (the
magic part of the troika).....but can't get them as high.
Therefore, it makes sense to get "warrior stuff" at a
lower cost than mages, nomads, or augers. Granted,
this is partly reflected in the base cost for combat mods, I
believe.
Perhaps buy weapon skills at double cost (not triple),
with a cap at CSE/2 instead of CSE.
*shrug* Just a thought...
