Suggestion:

However dice are rolled for the defense skill, make
the bonus DV added = n * normal DV of weapon.

I.E.  whatever n is, a longsword gives n bonus,
a greatsword 2n bonus, a shield or quarterstaff 3n bonus,
etc.  n is likely 1 per die or 2 per die or whatever
is decided.

Gives warriors something more to buy than just DP, Mod, and skill.
