I agree, and this is what I'd like to see as well, the fewer defensive
items, and more personal defense.
If we do the splitting pools, it will slow things down a bit, how much
I'm not sure, we'd have to play test it to see, but I don't think it'd
be that significant of a factor, if people pay attention.
Next thing, I think it should just be a flat +2 to DV regardless of
weapon. If you go with the DV add by weapon type, then you are
gonna get some monsters who buy up the Shield skill at base 60, and
adds 25 to his CDV and GDV(using an adamantite shield, and making a
5 die check). So our hypothetical warrior will have a CDV of:
Mob Agi Sta Helm Arm Sh Skil
3 2 2 1 6 5 25 = 44. That is assuming he has
iron plate, and an adamantite shield.
knock it down to 39 if just steel shield,
and 34 for normal shield. Then if
he has any sort of defensive items
we are goin up even higher.
Granted this will neceessitate the big mega warriors using their
skill for a precise attack, to get a reasonable chance besides
a crit, to hit. But do we want it that damn ugly?
Another thing i wanted to bring up, priestly weapon skills? Since priests
are part combat and don't get weapon skills, should they? I can see
arguements for and against. Also instead of just a flat weapon
skill like marines and warriors, what about letting them buy a weapon
of their god, or a chosen weapon at only double cost?
