I believe 'trench' was the test case for this. Is it a magical hole or
is it a hole created by magic? It was ruled that you cannot revoke a
physical effect... you can revoke magic, you can resist magic... but its
physical effects are otherwise. If I use magic to drop a 10 ton weight
on your head does your resistance to magic let you not be crushed? Same
reasoning applies. If I use magic to create fire, will resistance to
magic keep you from being incinerated?

There are some gray areas. You can resist the magic that makes or powers
a physical effect, you can even revocate it... however the physical
affect yourself will get you. If someone "Rock Jet"'s you... you cannot
revocate the rocks... however you can revocate the spell that allows the
rocks to come into existance and be hurled at you. Thats legit. However
no magical resistance will help you.

Hrm... magic can for the most part affect immaterial creatures. Today's
argument is "can a magically created, _PHYSICAL_ effect harm an
immaterial creature"? Plainly it cannot. You cannot affect the
immaterial with anything that is material. You'd need an immaterial
fireball to affect an immaterial creature. At extremely high levels if
immaterial, the creature is so out of phase with our existence that not
even magic can affect them, they likewise cannot affect our world...
even with magic. We can't see them, they can't see us, etc...
