water mages

I have never seen a water mage that is threatening in combat.  They aren't 
combat effective in melee, and most of their offensive spells are fairly
harmless (short range, low RC, whatever).  I am not saying that all water
mages are useless in combat, they should just know their limitations.
I know that Mindra is high rating (above rate 30 is high), but a warrior or
marine of 1/4 her rating would walk all over her.
Seeing Mindra try to fight Mogradin would be amusing.
