RE: Nexus-remove

This message is from Andrew. I apologize if it seems choppy as I
transcribed it while I was talking with him on the phone. Any opinions
expressed in the message are his and not mine. Please CC me on any
responses since I am not part of this list anymore *sigh*.

A) As to the "game never happened ruling," in the past when Termie got up
from one of my games he went to Dan and complained for a week. Dan then
ruled that the game never happened. I personally was in the party that
stopped the sea wall from being destroyed and negotiated peace with the
T'orites of Gairntown. Dan also ruled that that adventure never happened
and destroyed the sea wall. Other than that, I don't know know how many
times Dan had made that ruling. But it has happened to me twice once as a
player and once as a GM. I know it has happened in the past.

B) It might not be a tactic to use otherworlds but they can change their
tactics and use otherworlds.

C) Once in every six months is the rule but out of courtesy of other GMs
you should not make earth-shattering changes without consulting them. And
consulting Dan who has not GMs or played games in the last six months other
than the newby games may have been faulty. I understand that you might not
have realized you made a mistake in consulting Dan. Lyle would have been a
much better choice.

D) It is a Dessus campaign, not an Atalia campaign.

E) As for old PC as actors, I apologize. Lyle has given permission for
that to happen as long as they stay actors. I was misinformed so you can
see how I misinterpreted it. The only information I had to go on was that
you used him in your game.

F) As to Taurus, the reason the god Taurus is dead was the mass killing of
his worshippers that was what weakened him. you have an archive with his
priests in the town where the primary motivator for killing Taursites was
located (Ie High priest Dusk). It would be very hard for me to see Rudri
taking out Taurus prewarned. This could be seen as a misunderstanding of
what happened in your game as well. But I question your ruling on it. If
it was me, Taurus would be live and well (maybe not well but at least up
and running).

Can somebody please forward any e-mail concerning this message to Mr.
kilgore? The only access I have to the list is through him. He has been
taken off the list by mistake. I have no information other than the one
letter from Brandon.

A) I see the frequency of my GMing to be of no relevance in this
discussion.
I am an active player and participant in the Fantasy Club, and there has
been no questioning of my "right" to GM or make changes to the setting
since I left Lafayette over two years ago. For your information, the Club
has set the standard for an "Active GM" to be once every six months.

B) While the character was at one time my PC, I do not have any intention
of playing him again as such. I BRIEFLY considered the idea and quickly
discarded it. I had planned to use him as an actor, but if that is going
to ruffle too many feathers, I simply won't do it.

C) At no time during last night's game was it ever said that Tarus was
alive. In fact, it was specifically stated that he was dead, but with
warning, some of his priests (at least in the Rougtero area) were able
to avoid/defeat the death squads. I can understand how it would be
difficult for you to have caught this detail, as you weren't actually
playing in the game you are commenting on.

Again, had you actually been playing in the game, you might understand why
they needed the Nexus, or that they created the Nexus, or that this is a
standard tactic for their race.

An "it did not really happen ruling?" Since when do we go back and edit
the events of the campaign just because we don't like them? I understand
that you have put a lot of effort into your adventures through the Nexus.
If you want to run a campaign in Atalia, what is stopping you? Some
adventurers from Jaern will undoubtedly move to Atalia permanently, and
you always have the possibility of creating new adventurers who are native
to that setting. You personally were the one who said, "There's nothing
to do on Jaern," and, "Rougtero is not interesting." Take the plunge and
run your own campaign in your own setting. It has certainly been done
before
at the Fantasy Club, with separate settings on Jaern and even campaigns
of games other than Adventure Quest.

I personally feel that there is a multitude of interesting things to do
on Jaern, moreso than ever now that the Nexus is gone. The people of
Rougtero will have to deal with the loss in commerce, the decrease in
food supply, the pirates...and I'm sure there are any number of things
in the wings that I am not aware of. Jaern and Rougtero have always been,
at the least, "interesting."
