But as currently worded they fit perfectly the concept of the battery.
As for the needing certain conditions to exist to cast a spell it is
a manipulation thing. You use the energy you have in you to manipulate
what the spell works with.

Not true. Look at fireball. You open up a hole to the Elemental plane of fire
send that hole over to your target and it lets fire through.

Yep why have exceptions both Ra-ites and Hirudo are worded to indicate
storage.
