Re: accelers

If your want to get this thread going, bet prepared. You are correce, the
induced electro-motive force plays a part, but it is the magnetic field
produced by the changing current (see Maxwell's laws) that get's it
going. The acceler is a Solenoid, not an inductor, and produces a huge
linear magnetic field not unlike those used for fusion reactors and
particle accelerators. My problem with accelers is that Air mages know
nothing about electriy or circuits. do you want huge capacitors around
that store 10 lightning bolts? The capacitor was developed first. I
already stated that I as a player have come up with some amusing tech
solely based on the acceler type tech, and if accelers exist then so do a
number of other nasty gadgets. (my actors wring fingers)

I have numerous reasons against accelers, and the foremost is that the
development of plate armor is being balked, but magitech crap is accepted
without examination. If anyone really cares to defend the acceler, e-mail
me off the list and we can discuss this further.
