Right. This isn't going to come into play very often. Very, very
seldom if people would just buy a few points of swimming. That's
why it should just be kept simple.
Drowning. If you fail your swimming check and your default your
drowning. You have HEA/3 rounds to save yourself then your
unconscious. HEA *3 rounds later your dead.
Quick and simple. But wait, you say... what if I have some spell
that keeps me from going unconscious? Then you still die in
HEA*3 rounds. The only act you can perform at this time is to
thrash about. Swimming isn't that many dice extra on the default,
stress it. It means your life. Wait, can't stress on defaults
(silly rule) which is why people have been wanting a resistance
check (so you can default).
I guess I say add the above three lines on drowning and lets open
a topic on being able to stress skill checks. Lets face it, STATS
are expensive and will not be stressed often. But in some cases
its cheaper than buying a skill... if you only use it once a month
or so. Can argue it either way, but I've always been a proponent of
letting people do whatever they want as long as they accept the
cost.
