Drowning opinions

NOTE:	This post is intended for more of an open-ended discussion. Any
mechanics comments, please re-title the thread. thanks.

Kay, I wasn't at the meeting, so what were the opinions on the drowning
'rules'?

Wordy?

(I cut about 5 pages of arguement and all the active/passive definitions
BEFORE I posted that mofo)

Chunky?

Too friggin' complicated?

'cause that was my opinion.

Point being:

We ALL want a tighter, more consistant campaign.

HOWEVER, the GM has to be able to use judgement calls. The GM has to be
able to arbitrarily decide what the difficulty of a skill check is, and
what the results of a failure are.

Having a rigid set of rules to try to predict nearly every situation they
may be used in is fruitless.

I flat out tried to both keep a simple premise to the drowning rules AND
incorporate situations people have either mentioned or have witnessed in
games. Damn near impossible to do. For God's sake, 9 times out of 10 you
would only need them if a 1d6 check was missed. What are we going to do
for more complicated situations?

Let the GM run the game.

(enter can of worms for GM accountability discussion)
