The reason the shield has an MDV is it is a large surface to block with.
As for the knoking arrows out of the air there are people on Letterman
and Leno who make a living catching arrows shot from bows as well as
crossbows. ( Not that I'm saying its more than one at a time and that is
something they train ALOT to do ).
