Re: GM'ing this weekend.

Unfortunately there are a couple of things here I feel that I need to
comment on...

----------------
Then frankly the other thing hurting geleia are Gm's who allow instant
transport from there on a routine basis to other setings. This
happened a week or two ago with Centralia. Players just magically
moved to Centralia from Geleia. They routinely magically move from
Rougtero to Centralia and back, or Attilia to Rougtero/Centralia
and back. Personally I find this cheesy and lame, and don't want
to see it become prevelant in Geleia, power like that just is not
going to be loaned out to adventurers without a SERIOUS payment
being made(priestly ways take defer of 12 and a spell of 12, and
the magic way takes either a rank 14 or 2 16's in a double cost group).
These are just not things that are going to be common in the slightest.

--------------------

[MAK] First, it is Atalia, not Atillia. I would appreciate it if you would
get it correct. Second, I have never ported anyone to or from Centralia.
Fortunately, I have not had to deal with someone in Centralia wanting to
teleport directly to Atalia. Should such a case arise, I will have to say
"tough cookies" because the only portal is the Nexus and I want to keep it
that way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
[Daniel Lawrence] And I have made this common? It seems to me just recently
I was being lambasted for making interdemensional and portal movement
difficult. Can't have it both ways guys... either I'm wrong for restricting
portal travel, or I'm wrong for letting it occur. Please tell me which one
of these I'm wrong for doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------

[MAK] Actually Dan, I think the way you are handling things now is
perfectly reasonable. You made it more difficult yet, not impossible. I
think this is something that was long overdue.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
Bleh, I'm rambling and spewing. Regardless, Geleia will not take off
as a setting unless more of the above criteria are met(the a-e thing)
or people just spontaneously give it a try.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
[Daniel Lawrence] Or people play there, enjoy it, and like playing under
that setting with the people whom GM there (myself included at some point).
This is about fun..... supply the fun, the hordes of admiring players will
follow.

First, there is the appearance that Geleia is a clique thing. While you
collectively claim this is not the case, I have hard time believing this.
Jevan's bumping of Rick does not help in this respect IMHO. Additionally, I
think there is hope for Rougtero. While the island itself is devoid of
things that are interesting, there are almost literally hundreds of islands
surrounding Lojem. I have not had any experience in the "new and improved"
Centralia to form any opinions.

Personally, I think players should be allowed to move characters from one
setting to another. This keeps things from stagnating for the players.
Players make an investment in their characters (how much depends on the
individual). Everybody has their "favorite" character. I just think it
would be more exciting for the players if they can occasionally their
"favorite adventurer" to another setting.

On the other hand, I don't think that casual jumping from one setting to
another should be allowed. Consider what happened with plot line where the
priests of Gairntown took control of Lojem. Characters from Centralia,
where industry was not crippled because of the blockades and raids, started
transporting goods and marines to Karfelon. From what I have heard, things
got so far out of control that Dan decided to destroy the sea wall to bring
an end to it all.

IMHO, keep the jumping but keep close tabs on it.

Thanks,
Mike
