Well, as long as we're nitpicking... :)
I noticed that the damage for Javelins was cut back to 1d6, (and given
a damage for use in HtH combat) to put it on par with a spear, and
that the 1d8 was given to the atlatl/javelin combination. Was this
intentional? The description of the atlatl says that it allows the thrower
to throw the javelin much harder and farther. The latter is certainly
true, with a doubled range, but an extra 2 points of max damage does not
seem to be a comparative increase in damage. Simple physics (which I'm
assuming we are still using on Jaern ;) dictates that something thrown
to travel twice as far will have significantly more velocity, and by that
more momentum, and therfore will impact whatever it hits much harder,
i.e. be significantly more damaging.
Just idle ramblings on that subject.
A couple other things... From what i've read about atlatls, they require
a bit of practice to become proficient enough to be effective with them. It's
not like picking up a hammer or sword, and swinging it at the bad guy.
We don't really have a system in AQ to cover this, but such a weapon would
be very difficult to use by the untrained goober.
Final item I notices was that Maroglaves have the same damage for thrusting
as they do for impaling. Is this intentional, or an oversight?
