I'm fine with upping the damage. reason I left it at a d8 is a)
game balance. its ugly to have a cheap and common weapon that does
a d10. The only other weapons that do that much damage cost a pile.
b) to use an atlatl you have to use a slightly smaller javelin.

*nod* agreed, and if it is difficult to come up with such a mechanism
we can just drop the weapon, lord knows I've dropped others for this
reason.
Temp skill cost of about 300 on it, it is a bitch to learn and fairly
unintuitive.

because in the manuel their impale is a d3. Its the same attack form
i.e. you are holding it out for them to run into instead of them
getting poked. Or possibly you are poking them with it at a run.
Regardless its the same attack form.
