witchsmeller
A while back I proposed using witchsmeller for mages to discern more about
magics than "approximate glow brightness". I would like to see the
Identify Spell skill used more broadly, for mages to understand arcana,
not just predict the threat of a spell caster in combat.
With Witchsmeller, the mage can percieve spells and items in the area of
effect. Will that catch a scrying spell? An invisible assassin? What
can the mage tell about the nature of the magic? A skilled scholar should
recognize the "magic's fingerprint", the exact look that the effect has
according to magic detection. A VERY skilled mage may even be able to
recognize familiar casters.
just a thought, we make rules soon, and I think this is cool.
