Re: Move through
Hmmm.... It seems that I am a bit slow with this message. However, my
interpretations are different. So I'm sending it.
I, unfortunately, disagree with this position. The spell explicitly
states that you can cast while hawksoar is active. For this to work, there
should be certain restrictions. These restrictions should based on the
following rule.
"Once a spell is cast and is active, the
caster only needs to concentrate on it
when he desires to change the spell effect...
A fly spell requires no concentration to move
straight at a constant velocity, but does to
turn, slow down, or speed up."
I found this on page 48 of my version of the manual (section 2.12.5 for
those whose page numbers are different). Applying this rule, it is possible
for someone to cast spells and move using hawksoar at the same time.
HOWEVER, the movement of the caster will be identical to the movement from
the previous round. Since the caster does not have the ability to
concentrate on the hawksoar spell, he cannot change the spell's velocity or
direction. Therefore, his movement will be indentical to the previous
round's movement.
For example, Thor, who is under the influences of hawksoar, moves 120'
due north on the first round. On the second round, he chooses to cast
lightning bolt. Since his movement on the previous round was 120' due
north, he moves 120' due north during the round he is casting lightning
bolt.
