Spellcasting and personality
Ok. All of us here speak and can type. Some can type by hunt and peck others
just by typing and looking at the screen and not the keys. End result you
see what I typed. Speaking everyone has some form of accent or individual
vocalization yet the result comes out the same ( discounting stutterers and
southerners :) y'all ).
Isn't spellcasting similar? You learn how to cast a spell and the basics of
the casting is the same for everyone but there are differences. Some people
cast left handed some right spell still goes off. Its all a form of style
and comfort. The problem with John's example is he cast a spell and spoke
which can't happen or can it? What if he learned to cast a lightning bolt
by using that phrase and gesture? As Dom Foran I chuck lightning bolts
from my sword arm while holding the sword. No extra benifit for it it just
looks cool. ( There is a benifit I don't have to drop my sword and pick it
back up ( but then again an effect stickum stops that )).
I'm sure there is some female mage who learned to cast lightning bolt and
end the cast with the blowing of a kiss. Dramatic. As long as the effect
doesn't change whats to say casting all looks the same. Oh I also dislike
the Identify Spell skill. There is no way a Priest of Ra should be able to
tell an Earthmage lining up to cast Bobble until it is done and then there
should be no skill check ( the blue area should be sign enough ).
