Re: Nomads and body hopping



Ahh body hopping. I really despise it personally and the careless way
people use other people's bodies with the " its not mine " attitude.
On to my take on soul catcher ( actually on souls, life force, minds
and spirits ).

Life force is what keeps a body alive so it plays no part in the game.
Souls and spirits ( and I would have to say mind ) are very intimately
together. You don't need to have both a soul and a spirit but when you
do they more or less are intertwined like threads in a rope. When you
pull someone's soul out you get their spirit with it ( unless you have
some other way to seperate the two first ). I have no reason why your
mind goes along with it but I don't believe it should be left behind.
I assume that any creature that has a mind has that go with both the
spirit and soul and if you split the two ( spirit and soul ) apart
each will take the mind with it ( effectively "cloning" the mind for
each ).

For example. Erica ( my adventurer ) a while back was struck dead by
Krusty but the way he did it seperated my spirit from the rest of me.
My soul went to Infero while I temporarily had my spirit inhabit my
body. Dusk in an attempt to resurect me pulled my soul back from hell
and put it into my body ( which I wasn't "in" at the time ). My soul
then explained that I had been in hell and had no recollection of the
activities that had occured since Krusty whacked me. The "Final fling"
ran out and my soul with its "mind" went back to Infero. Meanwhile
the spirit part of me had left the body to die and developed the "ghost"
skills I have. So if someone tries to contact Erica via her soul they
get the me that is dead. Else they get the me I play still.

As for Nomads jumping from body to body doing the burn and run. There
is nothing to stop them except ( as Lyle points out ) their gaurdian
spirit.

One theory that Steve and me had bounced around was not having HEA as
the "incant" stat and use WIL instead. This would stop the jump and
burn since it is still your WIL. Another thing I thought of was to
have anything created through the burning of someone run out when out
of that body's possession for the same amount of time that incants
last now when not possessed by a Nomad.

This last bit brings to question that time limit. Is it cumulative?
Does it reset whenever the Nomad possesses it? Can I have a Nomad
make me a luck amulet and ( providing I don't use it ) have him
reset that 2 week limit on the last day it will work? I don't see
why this should happen ( but then again I don't see why not ).

As for the 10.1 pound rock being cracked in half ( or just chipping
a .2 pound chunk off ) the soul goes to Infero ( DI time ).
