Plus with the splitting of the dice pool the amounts of times someone
whips off 6 attacks will go down if they choose to be defensive.

I would say you add the base DV of the weapon per die and if you don't
have the skill you don't get to add that to your DV. A long sword gives
you a +1 to CDV and GDV already. While a staff gives you a +3.

Purely defensive weapon? ie. you aren't trying to get an extra attack
out of that Gauche thing right ( why can't your example weapons have english
names? )

So the choices so far we've presented are:
A separate skill which is just a straight up addition to DV ( kindof like how
tumbling works )
Building it in to the current skill with either:
a. rolling vs. it once at the beginning of combat or
b. rolling every round in conjunction with attacks.
Choice b. while I like it has a problem with when you roll since that lizard is
going to hit me before I can roll my defence. How can you handle this? Do you
offer them a chance to roll their defence and when the attack side comes they
then use what they had left of the roll as they stated they would?
