Re: Rudrites (ie hirudo)
(on this, I'll talk)
Ppl miss the major 'flaw' about being/playing a Hirudo. 99.9% of the time, a
hirudo is not a cost effective character because of one simple fact. You're
not born a Hirudo, you're made one...i.e. triple cost spells. Even if you were
a priest, I'd have to say the Rudrite spells would still be triple cost, simply
because of the breaking and realigning of the faith.
If a Hirudo raised a child in the way, however, a person could (I s'pose) be a
Hirudo. Want to allow them in play? Well, by nature (supposedly) they'd be
too disruptive to play in a party...this doesn't cut it imho, since ppl worship
Rudri all the time...and lord knows we've all seen innumerous 'priests' whose
only apparent connection with their supposed faith is that they use those
spells...more of a odd-flaovred mage.
There are a few Hirudo spells which are just godawful broken and would need to
be fixed, and also their whole gaining exps by munching another hirudo is
unbalancing (since no other background has anything at all similar), but I
think they're playable. I played out and (unofficial) retired an auger
worshiper of Rudri, and had to turn down becoming a Hirudo three times simply
because I'd lose the char, even though she'd have jumped for it. (shrug)
