Steel and Adamant
Well since someone asked for it, I guess I will add my opinions to this
subject.
I can remeber that I was shocked when I found out that steel gives a +1 to
damage and to hit. I personally didn't think that steel should factor into
the effectiveness of a weapon. If anything, I felt that it should decrease
the chances of the weapon breaking. At the most, I felt that the material
should give a +1 to just damage given the reasons that I was told.
Needless to say, I started using this rule because everyone else (in
accordance to my perception) was using it.
I think that steel should (at most) give +1 to damage and does nothing to
hit. After all, the Scabbard of Sharpness gives a +1 to damage because it
improves the edge on the blade. Of couse, Adamant could be +2 to damage so
that it is better than steel in this regard. I think the rule where steel
gives +1 for every three DV is reasonable for armor.
Thanks,
Mike
