Yes, Greg, you and I and practically all of the old gamers know
that, but many, if not most, of our current active GM's do not.  I
was not there this weekend, else I would have asked the GM for
a moment of his time and worked with him to rectify the problem.

I believe that this profound game inconsistency may have been
averted if there was adequate documentation on historical rulings
and the nature of matrix gems themselves.  Note: even this would
not have guaranteed the problem wouldn't have occurred, because
'you can lead a GM to documentation, but you can't make him read.'
But, at least the blame would have lied in the acting GM's hands if
the documentation did exist.

Hmmm, wait, does the documentation exist?  I don't have my book
with me to check the matrix gem write-up to confirm that there was
such an omission.  If it is there, then the acting GM was in error.

Ummm. Keeping a Matrix gem inside you KILLS you. Your body suffers from
sever medical problems if not removed within a few days. We discovered
this a few years ago when someone mutated a pocket to put the matrix gem.
