Hah, I'm a HOGG, not a troll!!!
Actually, if I can get freed up enough (read, when I finish with penney's
at the end of the month) Part of trying for an ongoing plotline with a
number of GMs would include checking the feasability of:
1) running an element of it solely through the newbie game
2) starting the newbies in Rugtero
3) moving the newbie game to Saturday nights (say 6:00 rather than 7:00
so they're still kept seperate from the main game/players)
The results there would be:
1) the newbies start the main game familiar with the setting
2) the newbies are in the habit of coming to PFC on Saturday night
3) the newbies get to have IC information DIFFERENT from the main players
(always fun for an evil GM ;) )
4) (potentially good and bad) It gets rid of the problem of having only
2 newbies show, or having a gm late/unavailable completely hose the
evening for the newbies ... simply make the decision to bring them in
earlier than planned, and modify the newbie plotline to a main
plotline (or sign up on the adventure they go on, and have your
character mentor them). Or, better yet, run the newbie game with just
2 players THAT week, leaving an out to bring them to the main game
next week if only a handful show again.
End result here, while the risk is run of bring them in early (which
might scare them off/quash creativity) it keeps them from losing an
entire evening of gaming by making them wait an hour for the main
game, rather than waiting a week to potentially repeat the same BS.
That WILL/DOES/HAS lose/lost us members.
Just for the record.... We have NEVER no-showed a GM on Friday newbie game.
We have only ever canceled on fall break and when the players requested
that.

BTW, Joe, the stuff you sent me WAS EXCELENT ... at first read, I was in a
rush and didn't notice it wasn't sent to the list ... go ahead and post
it, or let me know if you want me to take care of it.
