You misunderstand. The question is if the people are alive or dead.
I maintain that they are either dead or found some way to survive
in the nether-world where the city now exists.

This was not a GM action to begin with Keith. And, last I checked,
players are not forced to make their actions in any specific place
because of political prudence. *shrug* 

The next generation sky city will not utilize portals. *shrug again*
