Actually it doesn't. It involves some GM making a half-assed effor
and asking everyone to turn in their portal creation. Anything above/beyond
that he decides for himself, documents and calls it good. If anything
is missed obviously the people on the other side decided they didn't
like your portal and removed it. Seems very practical. Of course
docmenting this means that you can't suddenly decide that one of the
portals leads to hell. *shrug*

Touchy. I wasn't calling you defensive. I was calling the in game
actions of putting up T'orites and then worrying about what was going
to come out as defensive... and it is. Half-assed defensive, but still
defensive. In a more populous , war-like setting (like Galeia) I'd
wager money that those portals would be scouted and closed. Every week
would be another scouting mission and another report to the powers
that be on if it should be closed or not. In the end all of the real
baddies would be sealed off.

You seem to equate carrying a war to the other side and getting advance
warning. I didn't see the need to debate this... that was resignation
not sarcasm. I'd assumed you'd see the logical fallacy in that line of
thought. Tisk.

Sure. Any good GM would be. So handle it, in game, as if is a threat
and an opportunity. Start of the politics and the factions. Bring
some intrigue and potential to Red Dirt. But do so in a manner that
makes sense and doesn't reak of fiat.
