Re: Armor proposal 1

OK. Deleted all the current spews. Just a clarification message here to
keep the tracks going straight.

1st There are 2 lines of thought going on here.

Number 1 armor is too slow
Number 2 armor is not defensive enough

I agree with number 1 with the way armor on Jaern is made.
Number 2 is crap if armor is as it should be on Jaern. Increasing the DVs
of armor is the wrong choice. Increasing movement rates a notch is the
way I would go since we've "proved" by example that people in the stuff that
actually is more protective can still go faster than the less protective
Jaernian armor.

Also note for those wondering who developed armor. 3000 years ago we were
on Torandor. From what I've heard Torandor was not a world just briming
with oceans. I don't even know that it had oceans ( I have only been around
while Jaern was the world and my Torandor adventurers were all time travel ).
When the refugees landed there were no "marines" at all ( hell the background
didn't even exist :) ). All the fighters who used armor were warriors. It
was very likely that this sudden change of planets resulted in a quick
adaptation into the armor now worn by warriors all across the land since you
never know when you might end up on a boat. This was done years ago by
people trying to cling to what they were used to and not get screwed by
old ways on a new world. They adapted.

So about 2500 years ago armor probably got to the style we use now.
Designed to not be such a bitch to fall into the water while wearing
which also increased ones ability to move faster than previous designs
would allow.

In reality land movement rates have not changed in the 10 years I've been
playing. Note: 10 years ago was before the major revamping of the
mechanics all the back to when we had MM ( Melee Mod ) and negatives
applied to you to hit rolls base on Level ( High DVs were still good unlike
the negative AC that D&D uses which annoys me ). Movement rates have not changed
while the world around them has.

Most of the arguments happening now seem to be people who are arguing give
better DVs so the movements make sense vs. those who want the movements to
make sense with how the armor is made for the world we are on. If we were
on a different planet with different requirements of the armor I would side
on that of armor is fine for movement but the DVs are too low but then again
that would be a whole differnt design in armor than what we are using.
