Actually... the people of Geleia are prepared for an invasion as it
stands currently, but you'd have to be keeping up with the events to know
that. The merchant lords in particular don't want anything to interfere
with the near monopoly on trade for the majority of the island. In order
to make effective use of the portal, they would have to spread their
recourses to use it. that can't be done right now because of the
impending war on the island. Also, the merchant lords like the island
static. If there is no more power to be had, no one else gets it. Since
their power approaces abslolute in their own realm, then they don't
particualrly wany more. these are the people who enforce the status quo,
and this is why. And if a portal appears, it could be interesting. I
can't really stop that. But it will have reprocussions.
