RE: AQ LARP

Well,
Joel, you could have waited a little longer so I could respond to this
privately, but since you have put this on the list, it seems appropriate I
respond so.

1) Many weeks ago I purposely told a few people some plot details, just to
get a reaction. At the very next newbie game, my newbies regurgitated
everything I had said, almost verbatim.

So much for people being discreet. No there will be no nuclear bombs in
this adventure. It was a red herring to test how carefully people would
keep the plot secret. Imagine my dismay at how fast this info leaked out.

2) The club putting down lots of money.

Joel, for years I, and Greg, and Lyle and precious few others have been
putting out a lot more than that to run this game. You are concerned
somehow your money has been wasted. Well, do you know what the clubs $200
buys them if they were actually hiring me? 2 Hours. That's all Joel. And
seriously, if the club was actually dissatisfied at what they got, I would
right them a check for it today. And it's certainly not as if I made a
profit from this investment of the clubs.

3) Where things actually stand.

I have most of the character descriptions written and am working on the
plot. I had to have much of this just to run what we have been playing for
weeks. Over the years it has always been that we did most of this near the
end. And mainly, its because we have to handle what the newbies have done
to affect the possible plot through there weeks of playing.

Also some of the people whom were newbies will be playing as adventurers in
this adventure. And to keep it interesting for the people playing actors, I
am not revealing all to them... just what their actor knows.

In conclusion:

When people take the time to be involved in something, especially as much
time as I and some others do,,,, it is generally acknowledged that one is
at least slightly grateful to them. After years and years of effort and
many successful live action adventures, I am disappointed to be asked to
"justify" the clubs first substantial finical investment in all this.

This is an open invitation to you Joel, next time around, for you to write
the script, coordinate and motivate the people, and to cover the cost of
the unforeseen parts of next years live action. Are you ready to show us
how well you would perform in this role?

Hey all.

I was wondering what kind of progress has been made on the script for this
halloween. I don't know if Dan has something written up or not since he
wasn't there last weekend, but I'd like to know if he does. BTW, Dan, I
was wondering how we were going to handle the lack of newbies this coming
LARP. All I know is that the club has put down a lot of money in order to
rent the campground and we need to do something with it. The fact that we
only have a couple weeks left is also a major factor.
