RE: Mods (open discussion)
Hey all,
Here is a short spew from me. First yes there is no limiting factor
to Mods. I'm not against limiting them by a stat ( I prefer associated Stat ).
Totally removing them? No way ( too much of a change ).
Fact is Mods are a generic advantage you can use with any weapon that
fits into the catagory of weapon you are employing to hit your enemy. Weapon
skills are your skilled advantage in using your specific weapon.
I look at Mods as a "brute force" method of hitting and skills as the
more graceful way of doing it. While if you make the Mods limited by a stat
you do narrow the choices a warrior has open to him but most people already
streamline themselves. Not many warriors have more than one weapon skill
( and no John it usually isn't a Great Sword that is just Prewitt, I prefer
a weapon that allows me the use of a sheild ), nor do they have all 3 mods
up high ( usually Combat and Grapple are the more common seen ). By making
the associated stat be the limiter you remove some of the cookie cutter
warrior aspect. Most people do look at their stats when they choose what
they would like to do with their new adventurer and then play with it from
their ( hence why Dom Foran with a power of 8 did not choose to be a mage ).
Did I say short spew? Oh well basically if we want to put a limit
on the mods I would rather have it based on the associated stat and not DV.
But overall I just don't care to have the limiter. Cost always becomes a
limiter as you go on as it is plus I have had to fight alot of opponents
where I needed my +20 to hit them due to magic and such.
