RE: Split Dice Proposal
Greg,
What is acceptable for you, and what is cool for others is not neccessarily the same. You DO make clear what you are doing... you are consitant with how you do it... I consider it crazy to believe that you are anything but above board. What is the problem is memorizing the rolling habbits of ALL the people whom may be playing at any one time. That is why there is the rule about dropped dice causing a re-roll. If EVERYONE rolled them just like you, and everyone was as trustworthy as you your way of rolling would be cool for all. But what is not cool is getting ALL the GMs to memorize the rolling protocal for ALL the players. That is why I even talk about establishing such a protocal.

PS: The decision on how to split the dice was less complex than I first thought. Since it all succeds or fails on the singe total, it is less important to spec it out before hand.

Subject: Re: Split Dice Proposal
As far as liking to roll dice all at once I make it pretty apparent when
I roll what order my attacks are in. That is why I have colored dice I
put the d10s ( my damage of choice ) in order in front of me and just
roll the corresponding d20s ( and hope that the '1' does not show up on
any dice and specifically not the first die). Well enough of my defence
spew :).
Number 1 is good I think you are worrying too much about it. No matter
what the # of dice needs to be stated first and then what each die is
for before d20s are rolled. If you miss your check you miss your check.
Let people be wishy washy about 1 die being for precise becoming 1 for
damage but you have to go with whatever you said before the d20s are
rolled. It hasn't been a problem with split target. I've declared 3 dice
2 on opponent 1 and 2 on number 2 both before and after the roll. The
only problem here is if you miss your check you have to say which of
the 2 people your swing is for. How can honesty even matter here? ( as
long as the roll is successfull and your attacks correspond with the total
of dice you rolled ).
