Message to the Geleia Gms.
first, NOTE this is to 'geleia@cioe.com' _NOT_ gmlist@cioe.com.
Okay, a few things about actors in and around Geleia. The powerful people
are not going to be helpful to adventurers who walk in off the street.
No miracles, divine interceedings, no handing out nifty spells at low
cost, etc... _IF_ they know the person somewhat they _MIGHT_ help, and
that is a _BIG_ might. If they know them very well, they MIGHT help, but
no guaranttees. If they owe them, they will help if its convient.
They won't teleport folks around the island unless there is something
big in it for them. They won't freely ID items. They won't chuck
miracles. They won't throw rank 12+spells, etc..
For your own actors in geleia, do what ya want, just remember adventurers
are fairly big unknowns and distrusted in Geleia. ESSPECIALLY in
cities such as Liston, Southham, Kieron's Watch, Devon, etc... The folks
that live in these cities have their own concerns and aren't going to
take the time to help out some guy off the street without some seirous
profit coming out of the deal.
This goes triple for the people in Liston, the Barrits. They control
every temple, guild, and military officer in the city, and the majority
of other people. They certainly do not help adventurers, esspecially
with stuff that is hazardous to them unless they owe them _BIG_.
Example: I ran 2 adventures awhile back that the only payment was a
"Favor from Aaron Barrit". And folks considered this a _HUGE_ Payment
because they risked their asses for it in a big way. This favor _MIGHT_
be transferable to one of the other Barrits, but probably isn't as that
would mean that Aaron was now in debt to someone else who he didn't
intend to be. They'd know Aaron probably wouldn't look favorably or
even honor such a debt, so they'd just refuse to 'allow themselves to
pay off the marker.'
Same goes for someone like one of the Merchant lords, the King, the nobles,
the guild heads, etc...
This isn't Karefelon/Rougtero where you walk in off the street, flash a
smille, some money, and get what you want.'
The reason for this is this past weekend and on a few other occasions
I've had my toes stepped on, and seen folks casually hand out big
spell effects that the players just asked for with no real reason for it.
May be they were being paid to do this by someone else, dunno, didn't
ask cause I didn't feel it was my place at the time to correct someone
in the middle of a game. Regardless..._PLEASE_ keep this stuff in
mind from now on.
I promise I will be finishing the actor writeups, at least for the big
people in the not too distant future, so folks will have more of
a detailed guideline to go by. But until then, please, do keep what I've
said in mind, and noone take this personally, just remember it and please
don't repeat it.
Thanks,
Wright
