Last Adventure.
Last Adventure:
No set game date for it, just between 1-20 and 2-20. it took
5 days or so.
Adventure summary:
The Lizard's of Dessus, writeup mainly done, who live in the
swamps to the north of Liston, were attacking and harassing
travelers by both sea and land. The powers that be and
the merchants of Liston and Devon were getting damn annoyed
at this. In the past they had tried to send in armed force,
but rooting out a dedicated band of hunters from their home
terrain is sheer folly, but they did try it the year before.
So they decided that a message needed to be sent to them
that Liston was off limits. So they waited till the dead
of winter, and then recruited a band of adventurers to
reconnoiter the situation, and then deliver the message.
Payment:
20 Aurics each initially(might be a bit off on that), and
then a 10 Auric bonus.
Things that happened.
1) Mogradin, Garret, Saundra, Johnny Chen, India's newbie,
and Rasp all made it to Liston. Johnny via Sea Port
from Rougtero.
2) Mog, Saundra, and Rasp were sent from Northham to liston
on horse, to deliver a message to the Natatorium there.
3) Johnny was hired in Rougtero by the priest of Neptune of
the Order of the Wave. A group of fanatics who
don't think the Priests of T'or do a good enough
job at bringing justice and balance.
4) India's Character, Cailet(sp?) was a professional duelist
in Liston. She was hired by someone naming himself
as 'Aaron', to assist the party.
5) The party all joined together and spent a day planning
and gathering resources at a mansion loaned to
the party for its use north of Liston
6) Saundra and Mogradin, riding a shadow dragon, reconnoitered
the swamps at night. Found that there are dozens
of small villages in the swamps, along with
patrols throughout the swamps. They also found the primary
village, and also the center of worship. In that village
was a 40' high statue of a dragon. The wing span on
it was 60'. It had fist sized ruby eyes and steel
teeth, but was otherwise of wood.
7) Made their plans, and then recruited and gave some perfunctory
training to a group of Convicts from Liston. Gave'em
some weapons as well. Only 3 were worth anything.
8) Using Shadow Mounts(2 Torgons and 1 Dragon) the party inserted
the convicts into the swamp north of the village. All
of the convicts were local city thugs, and highly
uneducated. They'd no real idea what they were dealing
with. They were a complete diversion, and only one of'em
knew it. They drew out almost all the lizards from
the primary village while the party snuck in from
the opposite direction. The convicts gave pretty well
but all but Wendell were killed by the Lizards or met
with accidents.
9) The party using the shadow torgans as essentially speeder bikes
got quickly to the city, ducking a patrol rushing north.
10) The majority of the warriors of the village had rushed north
to deal with the howling lunatics in the swamps, leaving
the city only lightly defended by women, children, a
few young warriors, and a priest. The party got unlucky
and was noticed by a boy. The boy got off a yell, but
was dispatched, and noone really noticed it. They then
saw the priest walking to the Statue(he was going to
do a sacrifice to insure the luck and skill of the
warriors). Johnny jumped him, and they beat on each
other for a bit, before Johnny and Saundra knocked him
out. He did manage to draw attention and the party
was rushed by several warriors with spears.
They were peppered with'em, and Torval was knocked
unconcious by'em, others were slightly injured.
Mogradin hacked the statue free with a whole lot
of precision striking and a +4 sword. Then they
used the dragon for lift, and the Torgans for
propulsion, and stole the damn thing. During the
hacking and lifting, Rasp was jousting with a spear
on the back of of one of the Torgans. I think he
killed one.
All said and done, the party itself killed 1 lizard.
All the convicts but Wendell died, 1 boy was killed.
11) The party then decided to present the statue to Liston
as a gift, but had to decide where to put it first so
they didn't get in trouble, or get the more valuable
parts stolen out of hand.
In liston there is a 400' tall twisted tower of Orus.
The old temple there was destroyed 20 years ago and
rebuilt by a priest whose obsedo was to build. So
a few decades, and a miracle later, they got a tower
some 400' high and 100' wide that is commonly
refered to as "taking a miracle to keep that thing up"
as it's peak sways noticiably in the wind.
So at 3am or so the party flies this statue into Liston,
and goes to the clearing around the temple of Orus.
They interupted a party going on inside to present it
too'em, needless to say they were ecstatic, it was
much better than the plain and boring point they had
on the top of their tower. So they then proceeded with
a whole lot of haste and a goodly bit of magic, to
literally cut the top of the tower off(only the top 30
feet or so), and drop it to the courtyard. Then they
lifted the dragon to the top of the tower and used Glue
to keep it there. In their haste they forgot about the
sleeping(drunk as hell) bell boy. He died messily.
Then a 2 day party errupted, a collection was taken up
and a brewery bought and its contents given out so the
city could celebrate in style. During this, another
miracle was cast to keep the dragon there for good,
and to make it neigh impossible to steal(it also turned
the dragon a Mauve color).
After the celebration the party was approached and "arrested"
by 'Aaron', for insigating a riot in the city. They
were let go with a slap on the wrist however, since the
powers that be deemed their service worthy. And 'Aaron'
told them that they could consider him a 'friend' in
the future(their real reward).
Also Torval considered himself personally in their debt
since they saved his life(and didn't leave him or kill
him, and rushed him to a healer).
12) Last major things:
a) Jevan's PC became a priestess of Orus having quite
thoroughly roleplayed and demonstrated his
dedication to Orus.
b) To show their appreciation the priests of Orus
painted the names of the party along the side
of the tower to say thanks(this will last only
about a week before someone gets tired of it
and repaints.)
c) Mogradin explored the precepts of the Orthodox
side of the Anubian religion, and received
a copy of "The Lord Barrit Morto-vojo".
Actors used:
Kelvar Brandwin: Acolyte of Anubis(Orthodox) in Northham.
Had the party deliver the message
Saunders Torval: Wave Traveler of the order of the Wave.
Priest of Neptune. He is a complete fanatic
for balance and absolute justice, but he is smart
enough to keep his fanaticism fairly well hidden.
Wendel: Ex-Convict, Accident-maker. Repeatedly professes
his distaste for killing and how he has never killed
a person, just that they have accidents(if they
keep asking him).
Kolingba de Dessus: Priest of Dessus knocked cold.
Aaron Barrit: One of the famed Barrits. Symbol: Clenched Mailed Fist
Gerald Barrit: Beacon of Orus.
Magical Items given out:
None
Special Items given out:
Favor from Aaron Barrit for each person.
Life Debt from Saunders Torval for each
30 Aurics to each character.
200 Falcons to Mogradin and Sandra.
A death sentence for each of'em by the people of Dessus. This
will also have ingame consequences for Liston and
for the PCs.
Decided things:
a) Orthodox Anubians are far more warlike than Reformed. The
Reformed are the Rougtero standard, and follow the
teachings of guidance and devotion as taught by
St. Chambrai. The Orthodox follow the teachings of the
Living Saint Kyle Barrit. They hold the view that
Anubis, through them, dictates when its a person's time,
and that they are to collect. This leads to a fair number
of sacrifices, and use of the Wheel. They an extremely
powerful religion in the North. The Orthodox Warriors
are known as "Deathdealers".
b) The Order of the Wave. I thought about it, and wanted to
really see the Neptune religion take a fairly important
part in Geleia. So I made the Order. Its a group of
Neptune worshippers who are sorta like the Teutonic
Knights. They are an order of religious warriors who
believe in enforcing absolute balance and justice. They
are fairly small in number, but they are very active.
Most of their priests will act alone(its rare to see any
action of groups of them), and will hire assistance if
they need it. Their skills and spells always reflect
self reliance. Its a big world, a big war, and they have
a small army to fight it. They have sympathizers in
every Natatorium in Geleia, and can receive aid at them.
c) Convicts in Liston will be used for military service if it is
needed. "Parole by fire". Survive and you are free.
It is purely volunteery as well.
d) Alexander Barrit II is the "Arch-Duke" of Liston.
Thats about it...Any questions?
Btw, the reason I'm doing this is to hopefully start a fairly detailed
report tradition being posted to this list so that folks will know
what is going on and if need be can use it.
