Sure, it happens. But since we allow the players to track such things
themselves (and what a nightmare it would be for us if we didn't) we
have to allow for mistakes sometimes. Sometimes it'll be obvious and
you can help the player adjust. Othertimes you just let it go for the
sake of the game and ask them to be better.
On this issue of mutates -vs- healing magic... regenerate isn't the
only mutate going around. As long as mutations have consequences its
not a big deal. Mutates do require writeups and should probably be
named and numbered like items so GMs know how to run their consequences.
Maybe not actually entered as items, maybe just jot down the stuff on
the adventurer card and sign it.
Regeneration has a consequence. Quickness in a non lizard has consequences
(over hyped, constant jitters, can't hold steady... not good for the
stealthy type). Increased DVs result in a change in skin texture and
maybe bone arrangment... it may decrease your movement at the same time,
who knows.
You are introducing a mutation. You can give the broad spectrum but then
its just a toss of the bones. Sure there'll be some GMs that adjudicate
harsh and others easy... but there has to be an adjudication documented.
And there must be a consequence. Maybe not a totally harsh consequnce,
but something anyway. Most mutations set you apart from society as there
are generally physical manifestations. Adventurers could become synonimous
with freaks pretty quickly.
