Re: Money...again.
Actually, let me clarify, why do book prices have to change? and
why do we have to worry about how much silver is in a coin? I
simply said 1oz cause its a nice round number, and it makes
it easy to calculate how much weight in silver someone is
carrying.
We are using technically artificial currency with what I've drawn up,
its value is not based on the value on the metal, but on the economic
power of the government producing it. So if we go with the most
economically powerful state's coin being the default and judge
all the others by it, we can still keep the 3 dollars worth
of buying power for that. i.e. 3 dollars worth of buying power
in Southham. In Liston, it'll have a little more buying power, same
as Kieron's Watch. However the 2 silver coins normally used there
are considered to be their 3 dollar standard value. In the
major cities(Liston, Kieron's Watch, Devon, and Southham) prices
will be pretty much book price, and you'll pay with the coin of
the realm(Liston and Devon use the Leva; Kieron's Watch uses the Magi;
and Southham uses the Falcon). In the smaller cities(Kraelthon, Aelran,
Brinshire, Grahmshire, and Northham) you'll use whatever, but usually the
city/power nearest by.
Yeah this makes things a bit more complicated, but I think it makes
it much more enjoyable to have money with names and differing values to
it.
