the 1d12+4 stuff I'm fine with. *shrug* the odd damage values
never bugged me in the least, and I much prefer it cause
it lets you get more differentiated in weapons.
a zwiehander is a 6' long sword. I have serious trouble believing
the AQ great sword is anything approaching this, you just cannot
swing a sword that big multiple times in 4 seconds, and I'm not
talking that lame as shit thing kevin was talking about that they
did in sca where they hold the ritan sword up over their head and
wiggle the tip of the blade up and down.
Historically the progression starting with the long/broad sword
went next to the bastard sword(so you could get that extra hand in
for more power), then to the 2 handed or great sword. This was
a bigger version of the bastard sword, but not what people think
of as the monster 6' german pike buster sword. This was simply
an enlarged long/bastard sword. I have one very similiar, fell
free to come see it. The zwiehander is the huge german sword,
bigger than a flamberge, that was developed to knock the heads
off pikes, and the legs off horses. Its 6' or more in length,
has a really wide guard, and is the one you see with the foot
or so of leather above the guard that is used for making
the thing more wieldy(you grip there to pull it back). No sword
that you have to change grips on to recover(beyond a simple sliding
up or down of the hands on the grip) can you recover quickly
enough to multi attack with.
