space ice cream...
Only working for NASA...
Today was a landmark day in my time as a NASA engineer. When an
officemate had moved out, he left all of his flight hardware behind in
cardboard boxes. My boss came in to clean up and to take the cool stuff
that he wanted to his office, part of which was a box labled "shuttle
tiles". We got into an arguement on who would get a tile, and so Mark (my
boss) produced a misshapen piece of styrofoam from the packing of the box
and gavve it to me saying "Here, this is yours." Showing my disdain for
his pretense to give me crap, I took a bite right out of it. About the
time I was spitting it out, the other coop said "I can't believe you took
a bite out of a shuttle tile!" I quickly smoothed out the tooth shaped
part missing into a smooth divot, and placed it on my desk under some
papers. It took a while to wash out the taste of impervious ceramic foam
from my mouth, and strangely the texture of the tile resembled that of
freeze-dried space ice cream snacks. So this is my advice, beware all
space ice cream, and spite and shuttle tiles don't mix.
