Pretty simple Joe... How do you get there? There are no accessible
portals on the sky city. We made sure of that. The only creatures
who could use the portals would be immaterial creatures. Lets think
if even that would work:

the nexus gathered the endpoints of all portals within a 200 met
range into a single portal... a nexus. We can pass through this
"nexus" if you know the combination. When you pass through one of
the three sky city portals where do you end up? On the uninhabited
worlds they are bound to. When you cross back, you pop out of
the nexus. Catch 22. The sky city is just plain gone. We know that
Dan said it was in there somewhere but only Erica can get there
(she can teleport across dimensions).

Now logically what should have happened is the city should have
falled (recking a block or so of Rougter... oooh big deal) or
been dragged toward the nexus at the rate in which the portals
where pulled into the nexus... The latter scenario leaves a sky 
city suspended 20 meters off to the side of the nexus.. suspended
is probably the wrong word... as is "sky".

Either way. We had no way to provision the city, the people died.
