I like the channel theory much better than the battery theory.  The channel
theory actually takes that little troika for elemental spell type into
effect...ie, if there's no air, can't cast air spells.  Hell, on Kevin's
little plain, earth mages just cast spells whenever they want.  No reduction
in SU.  Neat, huh?  Helps being on the plane of your main element.  The rules
he has written up for it are pretty cool...maybe if we beg enough or can pry
him away from Alison for a few minutes he'll share.  Plus battery theory is
boring as hell.
