Re: A couple of things.
Only something on "a" here "b" gets its own followup.
The unwritten rule stems back to games run in 1990 when the system was
being changed alot. My adventurer ( my first ) had a Strength of 16 and
wanted to wield these weird ass swords that needed a 12 to weild 2 handed
and I wanted to use a shield and I was allowed to due to my strength and
later bastard swords went from 2 hands to 1 hand ( possible ) if your
strength was high enough. Now you can weild the bastard one handed with the
strength of ( I forget 13? 14? ). I have no problem with this for certain
weapons but some ( the ones that use torque to inflict damage should need
the 2 hands still ).
I do like your additional bit about going the other way and letting a one
handed weapon be used with 2 if your strength is to low.
