Associated stats make sense.  As a matter of fact, I do agree that CM should
be limited to STR, MM to PER, and GM to WIL (and for those to whom it
applies to LM to CSE).

Defense values (in my opinion) don't make sense.  I have a hard time
grasping the logic that if I put on my plate mail armor I can attack better
(I now have a better DV and thus my CM goes up) -- maybe I missed something.

Of course, if there is a limit on modifiers how can a GM create true danger
for that character with a CDV of 44 and ring of magical immunity without
resorting to something that does destroys the rest of the party?
