They were moving fast enough so a 1400lbs object flew 87feet, and
the pig considerably further.
The counter weight was 5000 or so lbs, the throwing arm 65feet long,
plus even more for the netting/sling the stuff was held in.
I believe it got up to 20+G's, but I might be remembering that incorrectly.
I know the guys who built it were thinking of getting into the sling with
a parachute so they could throw themselves, but calculated it out and
found that the acceleration would kill them.
