Re: GM'ing this weekend.
Personally, I liked the small games(6 or below) but then that is me, more
than that usually devolves into forcefulness of personality matches
with some folks getting really bored.
Encouragement to play in geleia? There was a plan discussed and
agreed on at the beginning of the summer for there to be a move to
Geleia. But this seems to have fallen through.
Personally, I'm not that worried about it so long as we keep 1 GM
for geleia each week, and keep cranking out the source material
for players, they will hopefully give it a try.
What I see as happening now is the same thing that happened with the
start up of Attila(sp?). People view it as a personal campaign/setting
and know nothing about it. Hopefully that will change as people
read the info we put out last week, and give it a try. Remember there
are definate cliques in AQ, you don't get one cliques players to
cross to another cliques' setting unless you:
a) Let them bring their old characters
b) Make travel instantaneous for the old characters
c) A reward of some sort for creating a new character there.
d) Force them to move by saying 'setting x is closed' or some such.
e) Encourage them to move by having something done where setting x is
no longer playable. i.e. adventurers encouraged to leave.
We don't have anyone of those except for a). There were plans
for b), but those got hozed(getting 5game months ahead) it looks
like. c) not really an option and seems just plain cheesy. d)
again, cheesy. e) was planned, but seems to have gotten dropped.
Then frankly the other thing hurting geleia are Gm's who allow instant
transport from there on a routine basis to other setings. This
happened a week or two ago with Centralia. Players just magically
moved to Centralia from Geleia. They routinely magically move from
Rougtero to Centralia and back, or Attilia to Rougtero/Centralia
and back. Personally I find this cheesy and lame, and don't want
to see it become prevelant in Geleia, power like that just is not
going to be loaned out to adventurers without a SERIOUS payment
being made(priestly ways take defer of 12 and a spell of 12, and
the magic way takes either a rank 14 or 2 16's in a double cost group).
These are just not things that are going to be common in the slightest.
Bleh, I'm rambling and spewing. Regardless, Geleia will not take off
as a setting unless more of the above criteria are met(the a-e thing)
or people just spontaneously give it a try.
