Re: Dan's involvement with the Fantasy Club
I have to agree with previous sentaments stating that Dan's campaign is
the heart of PFC. Not a week ago, a group of friends and I were discussing
the possibility of an RPG on Friday or Sunday nights as I can only
occationally make PFC on Saturdays due to my previous work schedule. AQ
was bandied about for a great deal of time, not only because we have a few
relatively inexperienced RP'ers and AQ's rules are relatively easy, but
also because Rick, Matt, BJ and other potential players (I believe Rick
was the only one present for the conversation, though) are familiar with
the system.
Truth be told, I argued against AQ, not because it wouldn't be a good
system, but because I would bee much too tempted to carbon copy the
setting and actors (confusing me greatly when the occational Saturday
AQfest rolls around, and homebrew plots begin to float across my foggy
brain and mix with "canon" PFC plots and I mix up info.)
Simply put, I can't effectively seperate the AQ system from Dan's
campaign. Really, it's the campaign that attracts me to play, not the
rules.
What really confuses me are the lengthy rules debates and calls for
continuity on fairly minor flaws in the system, while I see no one really
posting anything regarding (with the exception of game date posts) the
campaign's storyline. Most of us write up adventures now, how about
summaries of the adventure after it's run Saturday? Any other suggestions
on how we can make our settings more contiguous?
Oh, BTW, still haven't decided when, if, or what system the weekend game
we wanna run is, but I just found out I'll likely be scheduled for
Saturday afternoons rather than evenings :)
See you guys a bit more on Saturdays,
