Just to make one brief point, I must agree entirely. My current character
(which started at Rate 4 because of some bonus XP) was able to take a
dominant role from the beginning. Since then, she (Mindra Vi) has grown
into even more of a leader, though she's still only middle rate (27).
There has been a lot of interaction between herself and actors, as well as
other Adventurers, and that has really shaped who she is. She gets by with
her mind and words, instead of well placed fireballs, and often figures out
more with a couple well-placed questions than with a bunch of investigative
spells.

Just goes to show that you don't need to Roll-play all the time. Roleplay
sometimes works, ya know.
