Hirudo
About this Hirudo deal...
I think that PC Hirudo would be very difficult to make playable even if we
alter some conditions like removing the fact that they can drain other hirudo
for enough experience to go into retirement and deleting some of the
rediculous spells that they have. The only problems I have with PC Hirudo are
the following: priests of Rudri are loners and they are hunted worldwide.
Even if they were tamed for play, they would not necessarily chose to join a
party of adventurers if they thought they could accomplish their task solo.
They are also hunted worldwide due to the fact that they worship the godess of
CHAOS. This means they would do anything they could to create chaos; be it
killing members of the party or making the party fail their mission. They
also have a couple of distinctive features that would make them rather easy to
discover...aka, their skin is whiter than a KKK rally and they tend to have
abnormally long K-9s. Rudri spells also tend to have a certain style to them
like freezing your blood or giving you disease or other whatnot. As this
would make a Hirudo pretty obvious to fellow party members in a melee, a
rudrite can't necessarily go tossing spells around like an off-color mage.
All in all, I believe that Hirudo would be very difficult to roleplay and very
difficult for GM's to handle in a party setting(especially if the party whacks
out and spends the rest of the evening hunting the Hirudo.) They seem to be
more trouble than they are worth. If they are allowed, the senior GM's would
have to be very selective in who they allow to play them.
